EducationNC is a free online platform, providing data, research, news, information, and analysis about the major trends, issues, and challenges facing our schools. EdNC intends to generate and sustain a bipartisan conversation about our public schools, sharing with the state the great work educators are doing.
For too long the conversation about our schools has been driven by headlines, reduced to thirty second ads during political campaigns, and undercut by data that can seem contradictory or confusing without context.

Nothing is as important to the future of North Carolina as education. In grades K-12, we have 1.5 million public school students, 95,000 teachers, 7,000 administrators, and 75,000 other school professionals – that’s 17% of our state population not even including students choosing other schools, parents, our business leaders, the media, or policymakers.
We have an opportunity to create a better education system – one that is built for what our students need now and in the future. But we need your help.
EducationNC is an online platform, providing data, research, news, information, and analysis about the major trends, issues, and challenges facing our schools. We intend to surface ideas, success stories, and statistics that will inspire us all to reconsider our assumptions about education. We hope to become your source of trusted information about education.
EdNC will host a statewide, bipartisan conversation fueled with good information. We think of it as the architecture for participation – your participation in our common future.
Did you know that there is a public school in a jail in Mecklenburg County? It is impressive and deserves to be highlighted.
