My name is Lydia Hedrick. I attended Lexington City Schools as a student before earning a Teaching Fellows Scholarship to Appalachian State University. After four years, I graduated from Appalachian with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
I student taught in the fourth grade at Lake Norman Elementary School and in the first grade at La Escuela Di'Amicis in Puebla, Mexico. I spent my first year teaching and loving kindergartners at Davis-Townsend Elementary School. It is easy to enjoy your job when you are surrounded by people who are so full of life! I am an avid reader and spent two years working as a Title I reading specialist at Southwood Elementary School before moving to Fair Grove as the Lead Teacher. In January 2012, I became the assistant principal at Friedberg and Midway Elementary Schools.
Since earning my undergraduate degree, I have also earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education, licensure in reading from Catawba College in Salisbury, and added on to my Master's degree, licensure in administration through Gardner-Webb University. My goal is to one day be a principal.
I believe that people of all ages should be setting and achieving goals! Ask your child what their current goal is! We set new goals as we achieve the old ones. Please feel free to contact me about your child's personal goals so that we can work towards them together.
