Check out a small group set or use them whole class for...
* Type reports before you go to the lab
(they will connect with usb and you can pop the text into AppleWorks, Pages, Keynote, etc.)
* Brainstorm and/or write rough drafts
(connect the AlphaSmart to a computer with a usb cable and you can send the text into AppleWorks, Pages, Keynote) --then the students can work on adding to/editing/finishing their work
* Round robin story making
(student 1 types a paragraph in file one...next student copies this paragraph & pastes it into file 2 then adds 2nd paragraph..so on)
* Type up interview questions and interview classmates or teachers.
* Students create story word problems for classmates to answer
* Students write responses to questions as you're teaching
(teacher can be impromptu and ask questions as she goes)
*Let kids type a story or a sentence (younger grades) and connect using usb to insert their text into a kidpix text box--then kids can illustrate their story/sentence
