Battle of the Books  2014-2015

Travel around the world and back in time with the 2014-2015 Battle of the Books. This year's list takes us from the United States to India, Korea, Poland, France, Great Britian, and Japan. We'll travel from the present back to America in the 1960s, Great Britain in the 1940s, Japan in the 18th century, and Korea in the 12th century. Experience the sinking of the Titanic, the assasination of a President, and the life of a young Jewish boy in German concentration camps. And then there's the books set in the future, in places we cannot imagine. All ready and waiting. All you have to do is READ.

Battle of the Books is a team competition, with students from one school competing against other schools answering questions in a quiz-bowl type format. All of the questions are based on the twenty-seven books selected by the state committee each year.

We are now starting to prepare for the 2014-2015 competion in February of 2015. The new book list is posted below.

To be considered for the competition team, students in grades six through eight must:

  • participate in the book discussions and practice rounds
  • attend BOB meetings
  • learn to work with a team to answer the questions
  • read at least 6 of the 27 books on the list

To get started, just pick a book and start reading. Come join us as we travel around the world, through space and time.
