Have You Filled A Bucket Today? In addition to our daily behavior plan students will be encouraged to be “bucket fillers”. We will read the story, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” a story that encourages positive behavior. This story illustrates how rewarding it is to show kindness, appreciation, and love toward others. The story talks about how we carry around an invisible bucket and when we use kind words and actions we become "bucket fillers" filling each other’s buckets. When we say or do things that aren’t kind or compassionate we are being "bucket dippers"…emptying all the good feelings out of other’s buckets. Each student will have their own “bucket” on our class bucket filling board. Beside the board there is a basket of bucket filling forms for students to fill out and slip into someone’s bucket. Students are free to fill someone’s bucket ANY time they want. We will talk about how important it is to fill everyone’s bucket not just a best friend’s bucket. Every Friday, we will check our buckets to find the kind words others have left for us. These might include saying thank you for being a nice friend or thanks for helping tie a shoe. Students will get to take home their forms each Friday to remind them that kindness makes a difference! |
