I REMEMBER
Read a little bit. Stop. Say what you remember about what you just read.
SAY SOMETHING
Read a little bit. Stop. Say what the text makes you think
about. This can be in the form of "I wonder", "This reminds me of...",
"I think...", or "WOW, I didn't know that...".
KEY WORD
Read a little bit. Stop. Pick out the one word or word phrase
that best describes what you read. Make a list and use key words to
guide you in a retell of the story.
Fix-It Strategy
This strategy is to help students when they come to a tricky word.
-Look at the picture
-Get your mouth ready
-Find a chunk
-Skip it
-Go back and reread it
-Does it make sense?
