Sincerely, Apex Learning Support APEX ONLINE REVIEW (free to Davidson County AP students)
AP Exam Review is an online test preparation resource that prepares students for the Advanced Placement* exams. Like other test prep resources, AP Exam Review provides students opportunities for practice on questions typical of those found on the actual exam. However, AP Exam Review goes considerably beyond typical test prep. Diagnostic assessments provide a way for students to determine their own level of proficiency and identify areas that require more study. Going a step further, AP Exam Review includes the actual instructional material to assist a student in building skills and developing conceptual understanding. Personalized study plans that are generated based on performance on the diagnostic tests direct each student to the relevant material for further study to ensure that he or she is well-prepared for success on the AP exam.
AP Exam Review begins by identifying a student's strengths and weaknesses. Computer-scored online diagnostic assessments are aligned to the College Board's exam topics and assess student knowledge for each topic covered on the AP exam. Next, results from the diagnostics are used to create a personalized study plan. Students can immediately see how well they performed on each topic and can quickly identify where they need to spend more time. The study plan also prescribes specific instructional materials to address areas of weakness. These proven instructional resources enable students to independently build skills and foster true understanding. Students engage in practice and application exercises that clarify and deepen conceptual understanding. Manipulatives provide hands-on opportunities for students to master difficult concepts. Interactive activities motivate students to invest more time in their preparation. And to make certain students have everything they need, AP experts are standing by, ready to help! These certified AP teachers use online discussions to answer questions, validate reasoning and provide students with extra help.
To ensure student success, AP Exam Review helps students understand what to expect on exam day. Students have plenty of opportunity to practice with multiple choice questions that are formatted like the AP exam. Sample free-response questions from previous AP exams familiarize students with the exam format and rigor. And real student answers to free response questions - complete with actual College Board scores - provide benchmarks for differing levels of proficiency. All of this helps each student become more comfortable and confident as they approach exam day.
Apex Learning's online Advanced Placement curriculum aligns to the scope and sequence specified by the College Board and to widely used textbooks. The curriculum makes use of multimedia in direct instruction tutorials to present key concepts. Multiple forms of representation address different learning styles, allowing students to learn visually, tangibly, verbally, or formally. The rigorous online AP curriculum has a proven track record of preparing students for success on the AP exams and in college.
*NOTE: AP students may begin using the review in November. AP teachers will provide their students with login instructions. In late February, teachers will have access to the classroom instructional sections and can use the online program as an additional homework or classroom resource. Students have access to the review questions until mid-May or after the AP exams are concluded.
