Welcome to the TEEN PARENT PROGRAM of Davidson County School Systems

It's MY Time.........

The Teen Parent Program was developed in 1988 to serve parenting students in our countys' three school systems. It has moved, changed, and grown since then to better serve our students needs. The Teen Parent Program offers:

  • Lighter academic load (3 courses per semester)

  • Graduation requirements decreased by 1 unit per semester

  • On-Line academic courses

  • Caring faculty and smaller school size

  • Parenting/Child Development course for high school credit

  • Homebound services after delivery

  • Field trips to area hospital and to observe quality child care facilities

  • Assistance in child care planning, graduation planning, and resource referrals

  • Weekly school nurse visits

  • A supportive atmosphere for parenting students

INTERESTED STUDENTS AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR SCHOOL STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR BROCHURES, INFORMATION, AND TO SCHEDULE A CONFERENCE WITH MARTHA MANESS, TEEN PARENT COORDINATOR. MRS. MANESS WILL GLADLY COME TO YOUR LOCATION TO DISCUSS YOUR NEEDS.

A VERY HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE HOLLY GROVE LUTHERAN CHURCH (Agape Friends Circle). These ladies adopted the Teen Parent Program in 2008. They have hosted 11 lovely baby showers for the class, which included beautifully handmade baby blankets blessed by the church, gift baskets, and refreshments for each student. They also keep an ongoing TPP "Closet" of gently used baby clothes/equipment, and serve as Graduation Project mentors. We greatly appreciate their time/talents/caring!!!

A SECOND HEARTFELT THANKS to our "Communities In Schools" mentors. These ladies come on a weekly basis to be "lunch buddies". They mentor students and also assist in graduation projects. Their time and input is invaluable to TPP!!!

A THIRD HEARTFELT THANKS TO "CIS" for their assistance in securing a Charity League of Lexington GRANT for TPP. This grant will fund attendance incentives to be awarded this semester and other needed supplies for our parenting students!!!

  • ...To be an effective parent
  • ...To be grateful
  • ...To plan for child care
  • ...To GRADUATE!!!
  • TIME FLIES! START NOW!!!
