8th Grade Algebra I/8th Grade Math/North Carolina History

Welcome to my math and history classes. We will be working hard all year to prepare for the 8th grade EOG for 8th grade math students, and for the Common Core Math I EOC and 8th grade EOG for Algebra I students.

During the first nine weeks, 8th grade math classes will be working on rational and irrational numbers, solving equations using inverse operation, solving word problems, working with the Pythagorean Theorem, square and cube roots.

The Common Core Math I classes are working on the same things as the 8th grade classes to review. They will also be exploring data and how they are linear or non-linear, what is dependent and independent, writing rules for data and linear equations.

In North Carolina History, we will be working on the first three chapters in the book. This covers the regions of North Carolina, Native Americans, explorers, the Lost Colony, the colonies, and the beginnings of the Revolutionary War.

My grading scale for both math classes is listed below:My grading scale for NC History is:

I use this type of grading scale instead of counting all grades the same. I want them to be prepared for high school next year when this will be the type of grading scale they will have for their classes.
