Driver's Education
Welcome to the DCS Drivers Education program page.
Student eligibility for DCS Driver Education
- A student must attend school within the DCS District. This includes all DCS Schools, Private Schools, and Home Schools. (Lexington City Schools and Thomasville City Schools have their own Drivers Education program)
- A student must be exactly 14 ½ years of age or older on the first day of driver education.
- A student must be in good standing with their school.

Private schools: If a student lives in DCS District, but attends a school located in a surrounding county or in LCS/TCS, that student must take driver education in that system and according to their rules.
Home schools: You are eligible to take DCS driver education if your home school address is within the DCS district.
There is a non-refundable $65 driver education fee that is required to be paid prior to the first day of the classroom portion. This is paid at the school offering the course. This fee is forfeited if a student is dismissed from class or drops out of class for any reason or suspended from school.
