Youth Art Month is a celebration of the visual arts!

Student exhibitions, public artworks, art festivals, and school events raise awareness and support of the visual arts to our communities.

While Youth Art Month occurs in March, local and state events celebrating visual art education take place on almost a year round basis!  Events and fundraisers take place in schools, libraries, art centers, museums, and even state capitol buildings.

Music for All People
National Association for Music Education

For more than 30 years, March has been officially designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for the observance of Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM™), the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.

The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children – and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music. MIOSM is an opportunity for music teachers to bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community, and to display the benefits that school music brings to students of all ages.

National Dance Education Organization
Every March, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Education, the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) recognizes  "Dance In Your Schools Month" by celebrating the artistic and academic achievement of exceptional students through the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA). The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) is dedicated to advancing dance education centered in the arts. NDEO provides the dance artist, educator and administrator a network of resources and support, a base for advocacy and research, and access to professional development opportunities that focus on the importance of dance in the human experience.
Theatre for Schools
National Theatre Association

The Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespian Society have partnered with the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) to sponsor Theatre in Our Schools (TIOS) to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs for all students. TIOS presentations and advocacy may happen anytime in schools, theaters, and other public spaces. We recognize and promote March as the official TIOS month, with a series of community- and school-based events and celebrations nationwide.

The goal of TIOS month is to not only raise awareness inside the school walls, but beyond and into the community; to share the story of the importance of school theatre with leaders, influencers, policymakers, and all community members.
