Academically/Intellectually Gifted Program (AIG)
The goal of the Academically/Intellectually Gifted Program is to provide a challenging and rigorous
educational experience for advanced-level students. Gifted Education will be integrated into the total
school community by actively involving educators, students, parents, and the community in extending
and enriching the learning opportunities of advanced learners. The DCS AIG Department provides
AIG Specialist support at each school. Our program is structured around the NC State AIG Program
Standards: Identification, Differentiated Curriculum, Professional Development, Comprehensive
School-wide programming and ongoing Program Accountability.
