The Board of Education is the governing body responsible for establishing policies, setting directions and providing support for quality educational opportunities for all students of the Davidson County School System. We are pleased that you care about children and are interested in learning more about your Board of Education. The information on this page is designed to assist you in communication with the Board. We are glad you are here and we invite you to attend future meetings.
The board consists of five members including a chairperson and vice chairperson.
Regular board meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm. Regular meetings are announced at least five days prior to the meeting. Members of the public may address the board at the beginning of regular meetings.
When a called meeting is necessary, public notice is given at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
When an emergency meeting is necessary, public notice is given through available media three hours in advance of the meeting.
A quorum of three board members is necessary to conduct school business. Voting action by the board becomes official when a quorum of board members favor a proposed motion.
All meetings of the board are open to the public except when specifically exempted by law.
By law, closed sessions may be called to discuss contract or land negotiations, to consult with attorneys, or to discuss student or employee matters.
Members of the media are notified and welcome to attend all open meetings of the board.
